MELBOURNE, Florida – Doris A. Robinson, 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on January 14, 2018 in Melbourne, Florida.
She was born July 12, 1929 in Stockton, New Jersey to Harry and Marie Gordon. The eldest of five children, Doris pursued a career as a registered nurse graduating from Newark City School of Nursing. Finding her passion in pediatric nursing, she retired from Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey after 25 years of service.
Doris married Walter Robinson in October of 1950 and shared life to its fullest for 54 years raising their two children in Flemington, NJ, enjoyed traveling the world and spending time with family and friends.
Doris and Walt retired to Melbourne, FL 33 years ago where they gave their time generously to the community. Doris volunteered for many years at the Maxwell C. King Center and Hospice of Health First. She was active in her husband’s leadership role with the Rotary Club of Eau Gallie and the U.S.S. Leyte CV-32 Association.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, Walter; brother, Ronald Gordon and sister, Pamela Thaler. Remembering her with love and joy are her daughter, Jody Thames and grandson Jansen Thames (the pride that filled her heart) of Cape Canaveral, FL; son, Loren and daughter-in-law, Gail Robinson of Flemington, NJ; sister, Marjorie and George Redfern of Flemington, NJ; brother, Harry and Lorraine Gordon of Phillipsburg, NJ and several nieces and nephews.
Burial services will be held on a future date at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
