Palm Bay – Billy Maurice Haney, 87, died peacefully January 12th, 2018 surrounded by loved ones.

Born June 20th, 1930 in Canton, North Carolina to Billy and Gertrude Haney, Bill was a Staff Sergeant and Radar Instructor in the US Air Force. One of 9 children, he graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and was a Director of Manufacturing for Harris Corporation.

Happiest in the outdoors, Bill had an incredible green thumb and could fix anything that was broken. He spent years enjoying freshwater fishing in the Florida waterways, and loved to listen to country and gospel music. He always took pleasure in having his ever-growing family come together.

Bill is survived by Bobbie Kean Haney, his faithful wife of 61 years; and his four children, Russell (Margaret) Haney of Indialantic, Florida, Dr. Michael (Kelly) Haney of Destin, Florida, Eric (Samantha) Haney of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Lisa (Gerry Thistle) Slattery of Washington, DC. In addition, he had a strong influence on the lives of 11 grandchildren: Melissa Matella, Chris, Jason (Allison), Matt, Steve, Michael, Jessica and Leah Haney, Meagan and Katie Slattery, Nicole Stobbe (Travis), and three great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Chapel, 50 W. Strawbridge Avenue, Melbourne, Florida 32901 on Monday, January 22nd at 11:00 am.
