WEST MELBOURNE, Florida – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office began a credit card fraud investigation, on October 21, 2017, at 4462 Twin Lakes Drive after the victim found multiple charges on his statement.
Lindley Ashby, 71, reported to authorities that his credit card was stolen and used from September 17, 2017, through November 9, 2017, to make multiple purchases without permission. He realized this once his credit card company informed him that he owed $13,068.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office gathered multiple videos from stores throughout Melbourne that revealed that Amy Lynn McDonald, 39, unlawfully possessed and used Ashby’s credit card approximately 32 times between the dates in question, purchasing $6,540.92 in merchandise.
McDonald was arrested on January 1, 2018, and transported to the Brevard County Jail.
Her charges include Fraud Use ID Without Consent Victim 60 Years of Age or Older, Use ID of Another Without Consent Of More Than $5,000, and Fraud Use of Credit Card Greater Than $100 or More.
