WEST MELBOURNE, Florida – A 24-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges after swinging two Samurai swords at officers, according to the West Melbourne Police Department.
On Wednesday, Geoffrey Michael Crane was charged with Aggravated Assault Domestic Violence, Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, and a Parole Violation.
Police arrived at the 200 block of Lago Circle around 10:30 a.m. after Crane’s mother called about a disturbance. She said Crane demanded her to call his father and became aggressive while “swinging his Samurai swords in her direction,” the report said.
Crane was outside of the apartment building swinging two Samurai swords at officers.
“Several lawful commands were made for the defendant to place the swords down on the ground yielding negative results. The defendant then threw one of the swords at the police officers at which then the defendant was tased and placed in custody,” an officer said.
The mother was in fear for her life. She also said Crane was on probation from a DUI and wasn’t supposed to be drinking alcohol. The mother said her son had been drinking excessively all morning, the affidavit said.
“I observed numerous open alcoholic containers in the defendant’s bedroom,” the officer said.
Crane was taken into custody and transported to the hospital to be medically cleared before entering the Brevard County Jail.
Crane’s blood alcohol level was .364 prior to leaving the hospital.
