WEST MELBOURNE, Florida – The West Melbourne Police Department responded to a call at Kohl’s after a man changed clothes inside the store.
David Peter Nicholson, 33, was seen entering the West Melbourne store and observed by a Kohl’s loss prevention officer.
The security officer told police that Nicholson went into one of their “Fitting Rooms” with clothing, changed into the unpaid clothing, and left his personal clothing behind.
Police then observed video surveillance showing Nicholson concealing the unpaid merchandise before entering one of the fitting rooms to change.
“After selecting and concealing the merchandise, the defendant proceeded to the exit of the store, passing all points of sale,” the officer said.
The security officer followed Nicholson outside as he was attempting to leave the scene on his bicycle.
Nicholson rode off but was quickly captured by the West Melbourne Police Department.
In total, Nicholson stole six items from Kohl’s valued at $291.99.
Nicholson was arrested and transported to the Brevard County Jail where he was charged with theft.
