Body, Car Recovered From Pond In West Melbourne

WEST MELBOURNE, Florida – On Wednesday, at approximately 11:30 a.m., police received a call about a deceased person found floating in the pond at Whispering Winds subdivision located at Dairy Road and Peaceful Place, according to the West Melbourne Police Department.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team responded and recovered a black male from the pond. During the recovery there was evidence to
believe a vehicle may be submerged in the pond.

The dive team searched the pond and was able to locate a vehicle submerged approximately 63 feet from the bank of the water.

The vehicle recovered is a Nissan Sentra recently reported stolen out of the city of Palm Bay.

The name of the deceased is not being released until notification is made to next of kin.

Investigation is still going on at this time as to how the vehicle and what is believed to be the sole occupant of the vehicle ended up in the pond.
