MELBOURNE – On December 27, 2018, at approximately 6:09 pm the Melbourne Police Department responded to 1000 block of Mill St. regarding a disturbance with two parties fighting.

Upon arrival, the Deputy learned that Shakeia Shanae Owen and the victim were fighting. Owens stated that she was there to visit her baby who was under the custody of her grandmother and the victim who lives at the residence.

The Deputy observed a small bump on the victims head and no injuries on Owens. The victim wanted Owens out of the house, an argument ensued, and a physical altercation took place.

Upon speaking with the victim, he claimed that he had attempted to leave the argument and he was hit in the face and back of the head with a closed fist.

“Based on the injuries sustained to the victim I had probable cause to believe that Owens was the primary aggressor. The victim wished to pursue charges and signed a charging affidavit,” the deputy stated on the affidavit.

Shakeia Shanae Owens, 24, was arrested for Battery on an Elderly Person over the age of 65. These charges are supported by video statement, photographs, and affidavits.

Owens was booked at the Melbourne Police Department and then turned over to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. Her Bond was set at $2,000.
