MELBOURNE, Florida – The Melbourne Police Department responded to the 2000 block of Maid Marian Lane in reference to a disturbance.

Officers spoke with the complainant who advised she arrived home to find her bedroom destroyed.

The victim said she asked her roommate, 39-year-old Charles Steedly Folk, about her room.

Folk blamed the rum and the alcohol for “raging out” and being under the influence, according to the report.

The victim observed a full 62-ounce bottle of Captain Morgan rum on the kitchen counter, as well as shot glasses. She told officers that the two are only friends and have never been involved in a sexual relationship.

She said her bedroom was left with the door closed, but now it’s off the hinges. Several bedroom mirrors were smashed on the ground, her wooden bedroom set furniture was destroy by “fresh liquids” and dented.

Officers observed an ax laying on the ground in the bedroom. An office desk and shelves were broken in pieces. The victim said the total value was $1,100.

Melbourne Police officers then spoke with Folk, who was sitting on the rear patio.

“I know why you’re here,” Folk told police. “It’s because I broke [the victim’s] things.”

When asked why he destroyed the bedroom, Folk answered, “I really can’t tell you that.”

Next to Folk were several shot glasses and a “rum and coke” mixed drink.

Folk was arrested and transported to the Brevard County Jail where he was charged with Criminal Mischief.
