MELBOURNE, Florida – A man walked into the Family Dollar Store in Melbourne and put feces on food, boxes shelves, and on the floor, according to police.

Melbourne police arrived at 2200 Sarno Road about a possible theft in progress, the report said.

The store clerk said a man, identified as 31-year-old Edwin A. Pierce, was “placing his hands down the back of his pants” as if he was hiding items from the store, according to the affidavit.

While police were waiting in the parking lot, Pierce did pay for an item and exited the Family Dollar. The clerk then went to the idle where Pierce was and couldn’t believe what she saw.

“When she went to the aisle he was at, she noticed feces on the food, boxes, shelves, and floor,” the officer said.

While reviewing the surveillance video, Pierce contaminated 8 boxes of quick oats, 4 boxes of grits, 8 bags of plastic forks, and 10 boxes of chow mein with bodily fluids, the affidavit said.
