MELBOURNE, Florida – Police say a 29-year-old man was shot and injured while sitting in his car Monday afternoon.

The shooting occurred just after 5:00 p.m. near the area of Boyd Avenue and Johnson Street.

Witnesses say the victim may have been sleeping in his car under a carport when he was shot, but police are still investigating.

The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there is no information on potential suspects by Melbourne Police Department.
