MELBOURNE, Florida – A 75-year-old man was arrested after hitting his grandson with a baseball bat, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Gerald Michael Omara, of Melbourne, was charged with Battery Domestic Violence on Tuesday.

The grandson told Melbourne police that he was in an argument with his grandfather. The victim said Omara was angry that he was “messing” with his tools.

“The verbal argument escalated into Mr. Omara striking [his grandson] with a baseball bat on his forearm,” the officer said.

Omara was charged with Battery Domestic Violence and transported to the Brevard County Jail.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Omara is still being held without bond.
