Ian Rashod Henry, 23, has been charged with Battery on a K9, resisting Officers with violence, and resisting officers without violence.

Melbourne police received information that Henry, who had an active murder warrant out of Valdosta, Ga. was in the area of 7201 Greenboro Dr in West Melbourne.

The defendant was located sitting in a white Pontiac bearing Florida tag EDDZ08. According to reports, as an officer approached the vehicle the subject fled from the vehicle on foot northbound through the parking lot.

Officers on the scene gave loud verbal commands for Henry to stop but he ignored these commands and continued running north. At this time the K9 Officer deployed his K9 Bodie. K9 Bodie was able to apprehend the defendant, according to the affidavit.

The K9 Officer advised that Henry began striking his K9 Bodie in the face and head, and placed his hand inside K9 Bodie’s mouth and attempted to pry his jaw loose.
