MELBOURNE, Florida – On Thursday at approximately 3 a.m., law enforcement received a call from a woman at the On The Rocks sports bar asking for fire rescue, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

Police arrived at 421 S Babcock Street and made contact with Jane Marie Rome, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated. She was with a friend who told Melbourne police that an argument started after she tried to cut Rome off from drinking, the report said.

Rome, 32, was shirtless and screaming as she started to walk south through the parking lot of the bar. She fell to the ground several times. The officers asked Rome why she called for police and fire rescue, but she just yelled “freedom of speak fu**er,” according to the report.

When the officer asked Rome how much she had to drink, she answered, “a lot a**hole,” the affidavit said.

“While speaking to Jane, she started to walk toward the roadway. I told Jane to stay out of the roadway and she fell to the ground again,” the officer said.

While standing near the roadway shirtless, Rome then picked up a piece of broken asphalt and began making threats to throw it at police.

“I’ll murder someone,” Jane Rome said. “You better not touch or I will hit you,” said added, according to the report.

After retrieving the broken piece of asphalt from Rome, she was arrested and charged with disorderly intoxication. She was transported to the Brevard County Jail where her bond was set at $1,500.
