MELBOURNE, Florida – A body of a man was discovered in a stolen car from Palm Bay Tuesday afternoon, according to Melbourne Police.

Authorities said a passerby called them after they discovered an accident scene in the woods off Grant Street.

Police have not said whether the unidentified man had any visible signs of injuries or what may have caused his death.

“There’s nothing I can give out right now,” Lt. Steve Sadoff, Melbourne Police Department spokesman, told Palm Bay Daily. “Detectives and evidence are on scene working the case right now.”

Lt. Mike Bandish with Palm Bay Police Department confirmed that the vehicle was stolen from the Hiawatha Trailer Park in Palm Bay. It was reported stolen on Sept. 30.

The car was stolen only a few miles away in Palm Bay before ending up in the trees and bushes off the road, police said.

There is a single home near the road. The homeowner said he didn’t know anything about it.
