MELBOURNE, Florida – Investigators say an employee who worked at a 7-Eleven store stole $452.15 by voiding items sold and taking the money out of the cash register.
Jacques Alquadahr Moore, of Palm Bay, was charged Tuesday with Scheme to Defraud and Theft.
Police say the money was taken from the store during a two day period while he was working.
“The defendant completed several transactions with customers … When the customers would exit the store, the defendant would grab the same item, the previous customer had purchased, and would proceed to void the item at the cash register. After voiding the item, the defendant would open the cash register and place the cash in a location to be picked up at a later time,” investigators said.
When police spoke with Moore, he was “more concerned about whether or not he was going to jail and how to contact his sister,” according to the affidavit.
Moore was arrested and transported to the Brevard County Jail where he is being held on $22,000 bond.
While in booking, Moore told a friend on the phone, “yea, I may have put the money in the black bag, but it wasn’t no thousands of dollars,” the affidavit said.
