PALM BAY, Florida – A homeless woman was arrested on a charge of attempted murder she poured gasoline on a man’s tent and set it on fire, according to the Palm Bay Police Department.

Nathanielle Gordon, 21, was staying at the homeless camp at the 3600 block of Dixie Highway when she poured gas on the man’s tent and lit it on fire while he was inside, according to the report.

Lt. Mike Bandish, spokesman for the Palm Bay Police Department, said, “She tried to burn him up.”

The victim was able to escape the flames without injury, bandish said. However, the man’s property was burnt to ashes.

The man told officers he and Gordon were in a verbal argument the night before that continued throughout the day. He said she retaliated by setting his tent on fire.

Gordon told police that the victim constantly abused her mentally and physically to a point where she grew tired of it.

She was arrested on charges of attempted murder, criminal mischief and first-degree arson. She is being held without bail at the Brevard County Jail.
