PALM BAY, Florida – A woman was caught using a man’s credit card after she stole his wallet out of his vehicle at Circle K, according to the Palm Bay Police Department.
On Wednesday, Mary Michelle Stabile, 35, was charged with Burglary, Fraud Use of a Credit Card, and Theft.
The victim said he left his wallet in his vehicle while shopping at the Circle K, located at 4950 Babcock Street. When he returned, he noticed his wallet and credit cards were missing. He then called the bank and was notified that his card was used at a nearby Walgreens, and a Tobacco shop.
The Walgreens store gave police a description of the female who used the victim’s credit card to purchase over $60 worth of merchandise.
Officers located Stabile, who wasn’t far from the store. She told police that a friend gave her the credit card. However, she hid the credit cards belonging to the victim inside a Winn-Dixie.
Stabile led police inside a cooler at Winn-Dixie where she hid the cards. She said the wallet was thrown away in a trash can at her home. The wallet was recovered at Stabile’s residence.
Stabile used the victim’s card to purchase over $100 in merchandise. She was arrested and transported to the Brevard County Jail. Bond set at $2,500.
The Palm Bay Police Department wants to remind people to not leave valuables in their vehicles.
