PALM BAY, Florida – A woman was arrested Thursday when she held her husband at gunpoint and with a butcher knife to retrieve car keys, according to the Palm Bay Police Department.
Misty Anne Collazo, 36, was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The husband said Collazo wanted to leave the residence, but he refused to give her the car keys. She became agitated, and retrieved a .22 caliber rifle, then instructed him to hand over the keys, according to the report.
The daughter told police that she returned home from school and heard a loud argument between her parents. She then observed Collazo with the firearm “verbally threatened to shoot the victim,” the report said.
The daughter was able to disarm Collazo. Soon after, Collazo retrieved a large butcher knife and threatened to stab her husband, causing him to throw the keys on the ground, according to the affidavit.
Collazo fled the residence in the family’s vehicle.
“The victim was not cooperative throughout the investigation. Although he claimed not to be in fear for his life, he acted upon apparent fear as he immediately turned over the keys when he saw the defendant armed,” the officer said.
Collazo was located at the intersection of Mariposa Drive and Morgan Circle. She told police that she was trying to leave the residence and did retrieve a firearm, but denied pointing it at her husband, the affidavit said.
Collazo was arrested and transported to the Brevard County Jail. Her bond is set at $5,000.
