PALM BAY, Florida – Kaiyam Sean Kelleman, 16, has been charged with second-degree murder after fatally shooting Jose Luis Reyes Jr., 22 while they were in the Lockmar Estates neighborhood in Palm Bay.

Reyes crashed a car into a home on Pelican Drive Northeast around 2 p.m., after he was allegedly shot by Kellman. He was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.

Palm Bay Police Lt. Steve Bland believes that Kellman, of Palm Bay, and Reyes, of Melbourne, may have been conducting a drug transaction when the shooting occurred on Pelican Drive Northeast.

Kellman along with several witnesses fled the scene; however, they were later found by detectives, and identified.

The teenager’s charges include shooting into an occupied vehicle, and second-degree murder. He will remain incarcerated at the Brevard Juvenile Detention Center, in Cocoa, awaiting his initial court appearance.
