PALM BAY, Florida – A bartender from Poolies Bar called law enforcement to report a man stabbing the bar with a knife, according to the Palm Bay Police Department.
Officers responded to Poolies Bar, located at 1851 Palm Bay Road, and spoke with the owner and staff, the report said.
The owner advised that a man, identified as 48-year-old Paul M. Deschryver, of Vero Beach, entered the establishment and began “stabbing” the bar with a large black pocket knife, according to the arrest affidavit.
The bar owner asked Deschryver to “take the knife out of the bar” or he would have to leave. When Deschryver did not take the knife out of the bar, the owner took his beer from him.
“The defendant was asked to leave the bar and he told her ‘Fu** you, I am not leaving until I get my beer back,'” the officer said.
Deschryver, who told police he was retired, then made a cross with his arms and told the staff to back off or he would stab them, according to the report.
When the owner called the Palm Bay police, Deschryver began to leave and said “I’ll take care of all of you” before walking out the door.
The bar owner told officers she was still in fear of her life.
Deschryver was later found and arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon “by intentionally and unlawfully threatening the victim while having the apparent ability to follow through on that threat,” police said.
He was transported to the Brevard County Jail for processing.
