PALM BAY, Florida – It won’t be a good weekend if you plan to go outside in Palm Bay or Melbourne, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida.

There’s a low-pressure system moving into Brevard County this afternoon, causing a lot of rain in Palm Bay, West Melbourne, and Melbourne.

This weather system is part of a tropical depression that formed in Cuba, and it’s moving north along the Florida east coast.

There will be an increase in showers and thunderstorms for Brevard County with heavy downpours, gusty winds of up to 30-40 mph, and lightning through the weekend.

Average rainfall will be between one-half and one inch , with localized amounts up to around 3 inches.

Unfortunately, this weather system had to hit our local area to disrupt weekend plans.

However, it’s better than a hurricane!

Don’t let the rain ruin your fun. Go to a movie at Carmike or Cinema World.

Try to make the best of it and enjoy your weekend in Palm Bay and Melbourne.
