PALM BAY, Florida – A nice breakfast is always good after a night of drinking in Palm Bay, but make sure you pay the bill before you leave.
Brandon Gregory Crawford, 18, spent the night in jail after enjoying a late night meal to sober up at the Waffle House located at 1168 Malabar Road in Palm Bay.
Employees at the restaurant called police after he tried to leave without paying his bill.
When questioned, Crawford was belligerent towards the staff.
Officers arrived and spoke with a waitress who said Crawford came in with a friend.
She said when Crawford went to the restroom, his friend left, leaving him to pay the bill.
But when Crawford left the restroom, he was on his way towards the exit when the waitress asked about the bill.
“She said he was intoxicated and belligerent with the staff,” the officer said.
The waitress told officers that she wanted to pursue charges if he could not pay the $22.47 he owed for the food. She also wanted him trespassed.
Officers then made contact with Crawford who appeared to be extremely intoxicated, according to the arrest affidavit.
Unfortunately for Crawford, he only had $11 on him and could not pay the bill.
“I let him make several phone calls in an attempt to pay the bill, however, he could not find anyone to bring him the money to pay the bill,” police said.
Crawford was arrested and transported to the Brevard County Jail.
