PALM BAY, Florida – Employees at the Walmart store on Malabar Road called the Palm Bay Police Department after they discovered a man slumped over the wheel of his vehicle in the parking lot.

Arriving officers found the vehicle, described as a gray in color Dodge Charger, with a man slumped over the wheel.

“I walked up to the car at which time the white male, later identified as the defendant, Michael McCullough, began making furtive movements and started the car,” the officer said.

Police could see an orange cap from a hypodermic needle in the center console area of the car, according to the report.

The Palm Bay officer asked McCullough to step out of the vehicle, at which time a needle fell off his lap and onto the ground, the report said.

McCullough then started pulling away from the officer as he was being detained.

“The needle was retrieved and the substance inside tested positive for heroin,” police said.

A search of McCullough’s car also yielded a plastic bag with what is believed to be heroin inside of it, as well as two more needles located with tin foil with several pills.

The pills were identified as Alprazolam 1mg scheduled four.

McCullough was arrested in Palm Bay and transported to the Brevard County Jail where he was charged with Heroin possession, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.

Bond was set at $5,000.
