PALM BAY, Florida – Police say a 28-year-old man fired two gunshots into a truck during an argument with his wife.

John Aaron Rhodes, of Palm Bay, was arrested on a charge of Felony Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Felony Criminal Mischief, and False Imprisonment.

Palm Bay Police were called to the 900 block of SE Caligula in reference to a disturbance. While there, they spoke with witnesses who said Rhodes was in a fight with his wife and restrained her from leaving the residence. Eventually, the wife was able to escape with her sister.

Two witnesses then saw Rhodes retrieving a firearm from a bedroom and chambered a round before telling them to leave the home.

As the two witnesses were walking to their truck, they heard a gunshot. A second gunshot followed as the two drove away from the home.

The two witnesses discovered two bullet holes on the rear passenger door and foot rail of the truck.

Police then spoke with John Rhodes who was walking down the middle of the roadway carrying a long-rifle slung over his shoulder.

Rhodes uttered that the “alcohol was wearing off” and he “has to pay to repair a lot of things.”

Crime Scene arrived at the home and found two .38 caliber casings in the driveway. The firearm was recovered from the home.

Rhodes was arrested and turned over to the Brevard County Jail. Bond set at $12,000.
