PALM BAY, Florida – A 20-year-old man was arrested on a charge of attempted murder after stabbing his step-father with a “Rambo” style knife, according to the Palm Bay Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Fairlee Avenue NW in reference to a stabbing.
Nicholas Marrero said he had been attacked with a foot-long “Rambo” style knife by his step-son, Julian V. Lopez, and was bleeding profusely.
Marrero said he heard a noise in the home and went to investigate. He heard Lopez behind him talking and then felt a knife stabbing him in the head and neck.
Marrero fought Lopez and ran into a bathroom and shut the door. As Marrero was observing the extent of his injuries and the amount of blood he was losing, Lopez was stabbing the knife through the door, according to the affidavit.
“[Marrero] stated that he felt that [Lopez] was trying to kill him based on the way he was being stabbed and was in fear for his life,” the affidavit said.
Lopez fled the scene in his mother’s black Ford Expedition after the police were called.
Marrero sustained nine separate stab wounds to his body. There was a 2-inch cut to the left side of his neck that may have struck his trachea, and other injuries to his head, back, and arms. He was transported to a hospital and put in Investive Care.
Lopez was located and arrested for Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery With A Deadly Weapon, and Grand Theft for taking his mother’s vehicle.
Bond set at $160,000.
