PALM BAY, Florida – A Walmart customer called law enforcement after watching a man inhale a chemical substance, later known as an aerosol Duster can, in the parking lot before passing out, according to Palm Bay Police.

Officers arrived and found 37-year-old Steven Joseph Mangiaracina sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, holding an aerosol duster can, with the engine running.

“As I walked up, I saw the defendant had a fixed gaze and dazed appearance,” the officer said.

Police made contact with Mangiaracina and noticed indications of a chemical substance impairment such as dilated pupils, difficulty in speech, slow movements, and confusion.

The officer told Mangiaracina they were now conducting a DUI investigation, and he performed field sobriety tests.

Police determined that Mangiaracina was impaired and unable to operate a vehicle safely.

Mangiaracina was arrested on a charge of DUI, and Inhale Ingest Harmful Chemicals, and transported to the Brevard County Jail.
