PALM BAY, Florida – A 22-year-old man was arrested after firing a long BB rifle in the Walmart parking lot, according to the Palm Bay Police Department.

Walmart employees, located at 1040 Malabar Road in Palm Bay, called police after observing a man with a “long gun” walking around the premises and firing a weapon.

The store employees could not determine if the rifle was real or fake, but they watched him firing rounds at a street sign in the parking lot. They were afraid the man was going to walk into Walmart and begin firing rounds.

Shawn Patrick Harper told officers that he just purchased the long rifle BB gun and began to “test fire” it in the parking lot. He admitted to shooting BB pellets at street signs and other objects.
