MELBOURNE, Florida – A 25-year-old woman was arrested Saturday after driving impaired. However, she told officers they messed up because she knows the mafia, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

Haley Dawn Rice, of West Melbourne, was charged with Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Cocaine Possession, Controlled Substance Possession Without a Prescription, DUI, Escape, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Officer With Violence, and Threats With Death.

A motorist called 911 after she witnessed Rice driving recklessly on U.S. Highway 1, the report said. The witness said Rice drove into a continuous turn lane and went into oncoming traffic, almost causing an accident, and then hitting a curb in front of Del’s Freez, according to the report.

Melbourne Police then located Rice’s vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop. The officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Rice’s breath as she spoke, the affidavit said.

Rice agreed to perform some field sobriety exercises, which determined she was too impaired to drive, according to the arrest affidavit. Rice was then placed under arrest.

During a search, officers located a clear plastic makeup case with a white rock substance that tested positive for Amphetamine, the report said. There was also a plastic baggie recovered with a white powder that tested positive for cocaine, the affidavit said.

“You all fu**ed up, I know all of the Melbourne Mafia, they are going to fu** you up,” Rice told the officers.

Rice was transported to the Brevard County Jail where she is being held on a $31,500 bond.
