WEST MELBOURNE, Florida – A 43-year-old woman was arrested at the Walmart in West Melbourne taking several bags of merchandise to her vehicle.
A Walmart loss prevention officer called the West Melbourne Police Department after observing the system walk past all points of sale before exiting to the store.
Carla Ann Maillet, of Palm Bay, was seen leaving the store with the items and locking them in the trunk of her vehicle.
“I made contact with the suspect who I identified as Carla Maillet who was in the driver’s seat of a white vehicle attempting to leave,” the officer said.
Police found out that Maillet’s driver’s license was revoked due to 3 prior suspensions in Florida.
Maillet confessed that all the Walmart bags in the trunk of her vehicle were filled with stolen merchandise that he didn’t pay for, according to the report.
All items were valued at $212.20.
Maillet was arrested and transported to the Brevard County Jail where she was charged with Petit Theft 2nd Deg Shoplifting 1st Offense, and Driving While License is Suspended for 3rd Offense.
