MELBOURNE, Florida – Kevin Anthony Mixon, 36, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, driving while license suspended, driving while under the influence, DUI with property damage, refuse to submit to DUI test, and resisting officer without violence.
On November 7, 2018, 7:45 am police were called to a reported hit and run crash which had just occurred at Wickham Road/Post Road. A witness kept authorities posted on the whereabouts of Mixon’s vehicle according to reports.
Two officers were conducting a traffic enforcement at the Sherwood Pool when the suspect’s vehicle drove by them at a high rate of speed. One of the officers stated the vehicle’s hood was up and heavy front-end damage. Both officers followed the vehicle eastbound on Post Road until it made a left and entered the front of 4040 Friar Tuck Lane and struck the chain-link fence separating 4040 and 4052 Frair Tuck Lane according to the affidavit.
The defendant then exited the vehicle and fled on foot westbound. An officer advised the driver fled on foot and gave a description to arriving units, according to reports.
Mixon was taken into custody and transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center for evaluation. At 12:11 pm the defendant was booked at the Melbourne Police Department and turned over to BCSO in Sharpes.
After an officer coducted a NCIC/FCIC check on the defendant he verified that Mixon has two previous arrests for DUI in 2018 in Brevard. He also has a previous refusal in Brevard County on 02/17/2018. His DL is suspended and has (2) previous convictions for DWLS in Brevard County, according to the arrest affidavit.
Mixon is being held on $94,000 bond at the Brevard County Jail.
