PALM BAY, Florida – Police arrested a woman Sunday after she stabbed her boyfriend during an argument over money and prescription drugs, reports show.

Rashida Danielle Brooks, 40, was charged with Aggravated Assault Domestic Violence, and Aggravated Battery Domestic Violence at her home in Palm Bay.

Officers responded to the call at the 4100 block of Tree Ridge Lane about an armed disturbance involving a pair of scissors and a kitchen knife.

“[Brooks] was holding a kitchen knife in her hand. I gave [Brooks] verbal commands in which she complied and the contact team detained her without incident,” the officer said.

The victim told Palm Bay police that he was in an argument with Brooks over “money and prescription drugs” that turned physical. Brooks grabbed a pair of scissors and tried cutting the victim, the affidavit said.

Brooks made threats putting the victim in fear for his life believing she was going to kill him. Brooks then grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in the hand while he was defending himself, according to the report.

During questioning, the victim believed Brooks called the police thinking she killed him, the report said.
