PALM BAY, Florida – Police were called to the 500 block of N. Riverside Drive in Indialantic after video surveillance showed a woman stealing three packages that were at the front door of the home, according to the Indialantic Police Department.
Jesenia Ana Perez, 38, was seen walking up to the home and pulling on the door handle, the report said. Perez told police that she didn’t think anyone lived there, so she took the packages, according to the affidavit.
According to police, when Perez was unable to make entry into the home, she grabbed the packages that were at the door and fled.
At the time of the incident, the homeowners were out of town. They told authorities that Perez did not have permission to enter their property or remove the packages.
A family member of the homeowners uploaded the surveillance video to Facebook, which captured the entire theft. As a result, Perez was identified as the woman who stole the packages.
Police then made contact with Perez, who admitted to stealing the packages because “she thought no one lived at the residence,” the affidavit said.
She returned some of the packages a day later. The value of the items stolen was $208.99.
Perez was arrested and charged with Burglary, and Theft.
