PALM BAY – A nurse at The Fountains of Melbourne Assisted Living Facility was arrested on Saturday for stealing from her 77-year-old elderly patient.
On January 19, 2019, the Melbourne Police Department received a report of a stolen credit card from the victim, a 77-year-old woman, who lives at The Fountain of Melbourne.
She noticed that her credit card was stolen from her wallet, which was inside her residence. She checked her online bank statement and observed three unauthorized transactions. The total amount of funds obtained was $197.80
Law enforcement officers responded to the two locations the card was used and retrieved video footage showing the transactions. On each video, the same woman, who was later identified as Nicole Ashley Blaize, 25, entered the store alone and conducted the purchased alone.
The victim was able to identify Blaize from still photographs from the video footage. She described “Nikki” as her afternoon nurse, who has a key and enters her residence on a daily basis.
Blaize, of Palm Bay, was arrested and charged with Exploitation Elderly or Disabled Adult, Fraudulent Use of Credit Card of $100 or More, Larceny-Pocket Picking, and Larceny Credit Card-Pocket Picking.
Her total bond is $10,500.
