PALM BAY, Florida – A man said he was sleeping when someone smashed a lamp against his head, according to the Palm Bay Police Department.

Byron Joseph Dorsey, 56, told officers that at first, he thought his girlfriend struck him while he was sleep. But, after thinking about it, he thought maybe the lamp just fell, and he overreacted.

The girlfriend said she was sleeping and heard a loud crash on Dorsey’s side of the bed. Then, he began yelling and accusing her of trying to kill him with the lamp.

Dorsey placed one of his hands around his girlfriend’s throat and threatened to kill her.
