PALM BAY – German Betancourt, 41, was charged with Battery on a person over 65-years-old after pushing his 86-year-old mother to the ground.
On Sunday, December 23, 2018, at 9:20 pm the Palm Bay Police Department was called to the 500 block of Vin Rose, in reference to a battery.
According to a witness, Betancourt was arguing with his mother over money. The witness said the argument escalated and the mother spits on the defendant, her son, according to the affidavit.
The witness stated that Betancourt spit back at his mother, prior to pushing her, causing her to fall to the ground.
The defendant and the victim were not present when law enforcement arrived on the scene. After approximately 15 minutes, they both arrived together in the same vehicle.
The victim did not wish to press charges. Based on the police investigation, Betancourt was found to be the primary aggressor, he was placed under arrest, and transported to the Palm Bay Police Department and later turned over to the Brevard County Sheriff Office.
His Bond was set at $1,000.
