PALM BAY – A man who placed his mother in a “headlock” thought about making her unconscious, but then decided not to, according to the Palm Bay Police Department.
The incident took place Saturday morning when officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Veronica Ave. NE in Palm Bay about a disturbance.
William Alexander Mumby, 19, told officers that he got upset with his mother for leaving “dirty dishes” in the sink. The two got into an altercation, which led Mumby placing her into a “headlock,” according to the report.
“William advised while strangling [his mother], he thought about making her become unconscious, but decided not to shortly after,” the officer said.
The mother reiterated her son’s statement to police, but also added that he was “strangling her” and she was unable to breathe, according to the affidavit.
Mumby was arrested for Felony Battery Domestic by Strangulation and transported to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
