PALM BAY – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Special Agents with the FDLE, and Monroe Township Police Department in New Jersey worked together to charge Daniel Sean Maloney, of Palm Bay, Florida with 15 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

Special Agents went to Maloney’s residence, located in the 1000 block of Malabar Lakes Dr., in Palm Bay and informed him that images of child pornography were discovered on his father’s computer in New Jersey and also on the computer at his residence. Maloney confirmed that he lived at his father’s home, in New Jersey, for approximately 2 months, and used his computer.

Initially, Maloney advised that he did not know how the images of child pornography were on his computer. Then, he advised that he watched adult pornography on his computer via “Tor and child pornography may have accidentally been viewed, according to the affidavit.

Maloney, 41, asked how the agents located him because he believed that the “Tor Network” obscured where the IP address was originated.

Maloney provided the password and directed the special agent to the file that contained the child pornography. The agent searched the computer and found images, and videos depicting children performing sexual acts and having sexual acts performed on them.

Images viewed by Maloney in New Jersey were all from the internet, and he did not manufacture any of the videos. However, he advised authorities that “he is glad that he does not know how it is produced because he would be involved in that also.”

The images and videos found contained children between the ages of approximately 4 to 11.

Daniel Sean Maloney was arrested and charged with 15 counts of Possessing/Viewing Material Depicting Child Sex Conduct.

He is being held on a $150,000 bond.
