PALM BAY – Robert Philip Charlton, of Palm Bay, was arrest on Saturday, December 22, 2018, and charged with grand theft motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession/use of drug paraphernalia, and loitering & prowling.

On Saturday, the Palm Bay Police Department received a to 788 Bianca NE in response to suspicious persons stealing from a construction site. Upon arrival, the officers observed the defendant, a second white male and a white female, as they appeared to be taking scrap from a large metal bin located in the driveway of the residence and placing the scrap into a grayish silver colored Dodge Ram truck.

Charlton was unable to provide any identification. He stated that he had driven the truck from Melbourne to 788 Bianca NE. The defendant, the Dodge Ram Truck tag, and VIN were run through teletype.

His license came back suspended, the vehicle tag came back registered to a trailer, and the VIN of the truck came back as a stolen vehicle from Coastal Hyundai of Melbourne. The white female stated that she and the defendant had been living in the stolen Dodge truck.

A search of the vehicle revealed an eyeglass case containing amphetamine and drug parapherna consisting of syringes, straw, and plastic baggies.

Charlton stated that the amphetamine and drug parapherna found in the stolen truck belonged to him. He was transported to Palm Bay Police Department and then to the Brevard County Sheriff Office.

His bond was set at $4,750.
