MERRITT ISLAND, Florida – When police arrested a man on a charge of Battery Domestic Violence, the son said he was only trying to kiss her.

On Sunday, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at the 300 block of Baker Road in Merritt Island about a disturbance.

Deputies met with the victim who said her son, identified as 41-year-old James Isaac Carter, had grabbed her by the back of the head and pulled her hair during an argument, the report said.

The argument started after Carter went into his parent’s room, grabbed a firearm, and started approaching his father with it. As the mother intervened, her son grabbed the back of her head and held it “close to his face,” the affidavit said.

Carter told deputies the reason why he grabbed his mother by the hair.

“Carter advised he grabbed his mother by the back of her head in order to kiss her,” the deputy said.

“Carter stated that he would not content to the fact that he grabbed his mother, but stated that he only did it in order to kiss her,” according to the arrest affidavit.

Carter was arrested and transported to the Brevard County Jail where bond was set at $1,500.
