PALM BAY, Florida – When police responded to a call about a man sleeping in a vehicle at the Mobile gas station, they didn’t expect to find knives.
The caller told the Palm Bay Police Department that a man was sleeping with the engine of his car running in the parking lot. It appeared to be suspicious.
Officers found the man sleeping with a sword attached to his back and various knives on his seat and behind him, according to the report.
Police woke the man up and asked him to turn off the engine, which he replied “no.” This went on a few times before he finally complied and rolled down the window, the report said.
Kenneth Wayne Lord, 48, told Palm Bay police that he became homeless two months ago. His driver’s license was also not valid.
“Kenneth was very belligerent and loud and refused to comply with our request to step away from the vehicle,” the officer said.
Lord was detained for safety reasons and was patted down for any further knives on his person.
When asked if he had any weapons in the vehicle, Lord said he had a “shotgun and a long gun.”
While officers looked for the guns, they found two glass pipes and a tin container that residue that field tested positive for Methamphetamine.
Lord was arrested on a charge of Drug Paraphernalia and transported to the Brevard County Jail.
According to jail records, Lord has never been arrested before in Palm Bay or anywhere else in Brevard County.
