PALM BAY, Florida – A 30-year-old man was found doing heroin at the Palm Bay McDonald’s located at 132 Malabar Road, according to police.

John Thomas Howes, of Palm Bay, was laying on the ground in the men’s restroom when officers arrived. He was woken up and was slow to respond to questions, the report said.

They noticed that Howes appeared to be intoxicated by some narcotic. When asked, Howes said that he just used heroin, the arrest affidavit said.

Howes stated that he did not need medical treatment and refused paramedics upon their arrival.

When police asked if he still had heroin on him, Howes advised that he had needles in his backpack and a small bag of heroin in his front right pocket. A small bag was recovered and field tested positive for heroin.

Howes told police he had just been released from prison on multiple felony charges and has a history of drug convictions. He was taken into custody for possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was then transported to the Brevard County Jail.
