Eau Gallie High School Student Arrested for Punching Autistic Brother

MELBOURNE – Stephen Gregory Pace, 18, was arrested at Eau Gallie High School on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, for Aggravated Battery Domestic Violence.

Pace committed the crime of Aggravated Battery Domestic Violence by punching his 11-year-old brother on the right eye with a closed fist to intentionally cause great bodily harm.

The autistic victim suffered severe bruising and broken blood vessels in the eye. He is a high functioning individual and is able to communicate with others effectively.

During an interview with an officer, Pace admitted to punching the victim in the face because “He frustrated him.”

The victim stated, at times the defendant attempts to act as if he’s overly in charge of the victim and bullies him at times.

According to their mother, there is concern that the defendant will hurt the victim again. The boys are never left alone due to fear for the safety of the victim, and the boys are always getting into verbal and physical altercations.

Pace’s bond was set at $15,000.
